Aproximately 150 people die per year from a coconut falling on their head.
Aproximately 100 people die per year from a deer/stag attack.
Aproximately 30 people die per year from being struck by lightening.
Aproximately 5 people die per year from a shark attack.
Aproximately 20,000 sharks are killed per year by humans.
Particularly after the film 'Jaws' sharks have earned a bad reputation. There were even several groups of men who went out to the ocean to find smaller species of sharks (black tip reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, etc) and beat/punch them until they died, they did this as a frequent hobby. People also remove the fins of sharks, then leave the alive shark body in the ocean, the shark then slowly dies of bloodloss/injuries, suffocation, or get eaten as they cannot swim without the fins. In the aquarium I've been to all day today they had a female white tip reef shark and she looks all... wrong. Her head faces one way, her body and tail another way, all deformed; she was purposely run over by a boat. Luckily she has been at the center for years now and she can swim perfectly, even if it does look a little weird.
